Metabolites of Mussels and Their Role in Modification of Microconditions in Fouling Cenosis

The degree of molluscs effect on the fouling community microconditions at the stage of dynamic equilibrium is presented based on the results of studies in oxygen uptake by mussels and the dynamics of dissolved organic substance (DOS) excretion. The exponential equations are obtained reffecting the dependence of specific rate of DOS excretion on the mass of mussels. It is shown that the delivery of external metabolites to the environment in time is described in most cases by the second order equations. The regression equation is derived which reflects the interrelation between molluscs respiration and DOS content. It is established that DOS delivery due to mussels vital activity occurs mainly in the process of digestion and especially of reproduction. It may be supposed that molluscs play a remarkable role in modification of cenosis microconditions determining the number and species composition of the fouling.На основании данных о потреблении кислорода мидиями и динамики экскреции РОВ (растворенного органического вещества) сделана попытка оценить степень влияния моллюсков на микроусловия сообщества обрастаний на стадии динамического равновесия. Рассчитаны степенные уравнения зависимости удельной скорости выделения РОВ от массы моллюсков. Показано, что поступление внешних метаболитов в окружающую среду во времени описывается в большинстве своем уравнением второго порядка. Выведено уравнение регрессии, отражающее взаимосвязь дыхания моллюсков с содержанием РОВ. Показано, что наибольшие изменения микроусловий в сообществе совпадают с периодом их нереста. Можно полагать, что мидии играют заметную роль в модификации среды обитания организмов в ценозе, определяя их численность и видовой состав
