Uptake of oxygen (the Winkler method) and dissolved organic matter (the isotopic method) by the Black Sea. R. splendida was studied, the density of their experimental population being different. The dependence of rates for oxygen and dissolved orgatic matter uptake (Q and Pd respectively) by R. splendida on the density of their population (N) in a general form is described by the equation b Q, Pd = aN-в. The limits of N variation for Q and Pd are equal to 4 ≤ N ≤ 60 and 10 ≤ N ≤ 140 samples • 1⁻¹, respectively.
