Mineral phosphate uptake rates by microplankton in the layer 0-100 m in different regions of the Black Sea were measured. The highest level of phospate uptake - (60-297)·10-5mkMh-1 and small values of its turnover time from 1 up to 6 days were observed in the upper mixed layer of the Caucasus Coast and in the deep water region. In shallow waters of the North - Western part the values of rate were decreased down to - 15·10-5mkMh-1. Contribution of phytoplankton into phosphate summary uptake for deep water sea region was 92%, and for bacteria was 8%.
