This article focuses on some characteristics of Renaissance Platonism, with special reference to Marsilio Ficino and his complex position, which is commonly interpreted in a way that underestimates its theoretical weight and its essential and enduring role in European culture. In fact, Ficino had a strong influence on the subsequent interpretations of Plato, insomuch as one could speak, instead of Plato, of Ficino\u2019s Plato
