The book examines the learning processes and the catch up in five sectoral systems in different developing countries, in order to identify both what seemed to be common features, and features that differed significantly across countries. The countries have been selected on the basis of the importance that they played in the successful catching up or in the failure of catching up. The countries varied somewhat across the sectoral studies, but China, India, Brazil, Korea, and Taiwan, are featured in several of the studie
