The fundamental research question adressed by this contribution is: what are the implications of the implementation of large integrated IT systems - ERP systems - for financial specialists? The chapter reports the findings of a CIMA-sponsored project indicating that the traditional professional figure of the financial specialist is disappearing and that there is an increase in "hybrid" accountants whose duties lay primarily within the business
