In this prospective study, 90 adult participants: 44 patients with mild acute pancreatitis; 30 patients with chronic pancreatitis; and 16 healthy individuals were examined and data received were analyzed. The aim of the study was to assess the changes in portal venous velocities in case of a chronic pancreatitis and mild acute pancreatitis compared to healthy individuals. Parameters of portal venous velocities were measured in the main portal vein and its right and left branches were during abdominal Doppler ultrasound.
