The primary aim of this thesis is to find out whether a theoretically valid possibility to create a functional and complete subject of EU democracy exists on the basis of major academic approaches to European Union’s democratic status and prospects. The main object of this thesis - subject of European democracy as an imperative condition for democracy in European Union. As a result of the research, it has been found that a gap between EU’s declared democraticity and growth of frustration with democracy, as well as debate on democracy deficit in the EU, has emerged.
