La missione dell’imagologia/The mission of imagology This is a reflexion upon the imagological approach to questions raised by the literary text: its relation with the cultural context and the dynamics of its inner functioning. Images are here considered for their central role in both the two mentioned questions. Besides some necessaries historical considerations (the history of the term Imagology, the role of the main schools of imagology) the essay provides two main perspectives for the imagological studies in literature: a first one oriented towards the circulation of the ideas through the means of images; a second one focusing upon the creative process of the literary text and the author’s imagery
