Production of Layers of the Radioactive Nuclei in the Graphite Matrix Using High Energy Ion Beams This paper explores conditions needed to create layers of radioactive nuclei in a graphite matrix using high-energy ion microbeams, specifically – creating a layer of 7Be in nuclear graphite using 7Li(p,n)7Be reaction. The theoretical evaluation was followed by an experiment – implanting 26 keV energy 7Li ions into one surface of the graphite sample and then irradiating it using 2 MeV energy protons. The activity of 7Be and 13N in the graphite sample was determined using gamma spectroscopy
