Political participation of foreigners granted asylum in lithuania

This Bachelor‘s thesis titled „Political participation of Foreigners Granted Asylum in Lithuania“ seeks to find out which aspects influetnce foreigners granted asylum political participation. This topic has been chosen because of several reasons. First of all, because of current refugee crisis in Europe, the problem of foreigner granted asylum integration became one of the most popular in political discussions. Futhermore, Lithuanian government named the problem of foreigners granted asylum political passivity as one of the most importan in FGA integration, however, there are still no researches made in this field in Lithuania while in Europe the situation is different. This thesis aims to explai the main reason of FGA political apathy. 12 in-depth, semi-structured interviews with foreigners granted asylum in Lithuania were taken. Qualitative analysis has shown that on the contrary to public opinion, most of FGA have middle socio economical status. In addition, the research denied the hypothesis, that those people, who have close networks with poiticians or people who are somehow connected to polics, are linked to be more interested in political participation. Fanally, the most important conclusios is that in most cases foreign granted asylum do not want to take part in political participaton because of bad exprience in origin country. Analysing foreigners granted asylum political participation approach, it was found that most of interview participants take part only in non-governmental organizations activities. However, according to Lithuanian law system it is almost the only way, how foreigners can participate in Lithuania’s political life
