The dissertation deals with morphosyntactic and semantic properties of resultative secondary predication (RSP) in European languages. It aims to establish formal encoding means for resultative secondary predicates and to reveal the semantic features which determine the different encoding of resultatives in a language and across languages. The language sample of the dissertation includes 31 languages. The dissertation discusses theoretical approaches to RSP and their contribution to the conception of the work. It defines causation and telicity as the basic features of RSP the presence of which determine the prototypical status of a construction.
