Route planning system for tourists

In the current world, road infrastructure is being developed increasingly and the demand for new technologies in the area of route planning is rising. These technologies should be able to help people to reach their journey goals as easily as possible - getting from one place to another on a most convenient route. Various route planning algorithms have been developed to achieve this. Some of them are more oriented to finding the shortest path, the others to the roundabout in accordance with certain conditions, but the purpose of them all is to find a particular route according to the user needs. The aim of my work is to use the depth-first search algorithm to create a system of route planning which, by introducing the starting point of the trip, the planned amount of money to be spent, the available amount of time and other options, will show the available route for the user including as many visiting places and attractions as possible. To achieve this, the following tasks were completed: map data that was suitable for the system was acquired, the depth-first search algorithm implemented, and a minimal user interface was created that allows to demonstrate the operation of the algorithm and to perform some other functions. The developed system is an online application targeting a traveler which is traveling in Lithuania by car. The traveler has several choices, such as the total length and cost of the trip, the number of people traveling, etc. Such preferences provide the information for the application to find the optimal route which is displayed on the map
