The study “Role of the radio in raising social awareness concerning issues of persons with disabilities (Taybah Radio as a case study)”‌ discusses the role radio plays in raising social awareness concerning persons with disabilities taking the Sudanese Taybah Radio as a case study between the period 2013 C.E. and 2015 C. E. It aims at‌knowing the role of the radio in raising awareness concerning issues of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Taybah FM Radio which produced a program dealing with the issues of disabilities entitled (Afaaq Jadeedah) is chosen as a case study. This study tries to evaluate the program technical and directing aspects of the program and also know the way the program dealt with the issues of disability and how far it conformed to the contemporary approach. Also the study aims at knowing the extent to which the beneficiary of the programme (Persons with Disabilities) followed the programme as well as those without disabilities in addition to knowing their opinions on it and how long it was able to fulfill their needs and ends. Furthermore, it aims to know the role of the media in the forming social impressions about (PWDs) and the society’s opinion about the ten stereotypes with which they are portrayed in the media as pointed out by some studies. Likewise, the study aims at knowing how far the program was able to achieve the aims for which it was produced and how successful it was in transforming the social impression about Persons with Disabilities. The study was conducted using a quota sample containing 100 respondents chosen from Persons with disabilities and those without disabilities in Khartoum State (named full sample). Then, the number of respondents who listened to the programme which equals 20 respondents was selected and further analysed (named partial sample). The study contains an introductory chapter and three other chapters. The researcher in the last chapter of the study explains the methodology used in carrying out the field study using questionnaires and how its data were processed and analysed. This is followed by the conclusion which contains review of the study findings, findings summary, recommendations and then attachments. Some of the major findings of the study include: 1. The attention the radio gives to issues concerning Persons with Disabilities is insufficient though increasing. 2. Taybah Radio cares about issues concerning Persons with Disabilities‌ and treated their issue‌ in the programme “Aafaaq Jadeedah” using the contemporary approach. 3. Persons with visual disabilities took the first place among those who listened to the programme. 4. The mass media played a weak role in composing the respondents’ impressions about Persons with Disabilities. 5. There are iotas of truth in the stereotypes some studies have shown to accompany the media messages about Persons with Disabilities and not all of them springs from mere imagination. 6. The programme, Aafaaq Jadeedah changed the impressions of respondents of the partial sample about Persons with Disabilities. 7. The programme “Aafaaq Jadeedah” has a weak popularity due to ignorance of‌most of the respondents about it. 8. Aafaq Jadeedah was excellently produced. 9. The respondents of the partial sample are of the opinion that the programme was attractive and was able to boost their morale and fulfill their needs and wants
