Impacto técnico y productivo del diluyente de semen porcino dicip-m en condiciones cubanas de producción comercial de cerdos

A total of 453 inseminations were conducted with pig semen stored at 16-20°C during 24, 48 and 72 hours post-dilution. Eighty Yorkshire x Landrace sows with parities between 2 and 5 were used from December 2004 to May 2007. The aim of the trial was to compare two extenders of pig semen at different conservation times in Cuban conditions of commercial pig production. The sows were allotted at random into the two treatments according to the type of pig semen extender employed. In treatment 1, the extender was dicip-m and included 74% glucose and sodium bicarbonate, whereas in treatment 2, the old extender dicip was utilized. An evaluation was made of the type of extender and the time of storage of the diluted semen (24, 48 and 72 hours) following a split-plot design where the main plot was the type of extender. There was not significant (P>0.05) response in the main plot and sub-plot interaction in any of the measurements done. An economical effectivity of 88.1 and 74.0%, 85.0 and 73.7% and 77.8 and 65.8% was noted according to the type of extender used in pig semen stored for 24, 48 and 72 hours in treatments 1 and 2, respectively, and one piglet more per partum: 11.75 and 10.99, 10.65 and 10.36, 9.50 and 8.72 piglets, at 24, 48 and 72 hours post-dilution for treatments 1 and 2, respectively. Results from treatment 1 were better than those from treatment 2. The proposed dicip-m formula improved the reproductive indices and the introduction of this formula into commercial pig production is recommended, due to the biological indices it determines. It is recommended too to replicate this trial by using the semen stored at 48 and 72 hours, by increasing the sample size, as well as to conduct studies of economical fiability.Se realizaron 453 inseminaciones con semen conservado a 16-20°C durante 24, 48 y 72 horas. Se utilizaron 80 cerdas Yorkshire x Landrace con paridades comprendidas entre 2 y 5 partos, entre diciembre de 2004 y mayo de 2007 con el objetivo de comparar dos diluyentes de semen porcino a diferentes horarios de conservación en condiciones cubanas de producción comercial. Las cerdas fueron distribuídas de manera aleatoria en dos tratamientos. En el tratamiento 1 se empleó el nuevo diluente dicip-m con 74% de glucosa y bicarbonato sódico y en el tratamiento 2, el anterior diluyente dicip, tomado como control. Se hizo una evaluación del efecto del tipo de diluyente y del tiempo de conservación del semen diluído (24, 48 y 72 horas) mediante un diseño de parcela dividida en el que la parcela principal fue el tipo de diluyente. No hubo respuesta significativa (P>0.05) en la interacción parcela principal x subparcela en las medidas efectuadas. Se obtuvo una efectividad económica de 88.1 y 74.0%, 85.0 y 73.7%, 77.8 y 65.8% con semen conservado durante 24, 48 y 72 horas para los tratamientos 1 y 2 respectivamente, y una cría más por parto: 11.75 y 10.99, 10.65 y 10.36, 9.50 y 8.72 cerditos/parto, a las 24, 48 y 72 horas de conservación en los tratamientos 1 y 2. Los resultados del tratamiento 1 fueron superiores a los del tratamiento control. La fórmula propuesta del dicip-m mejoró los indicadores reproductivos y se recomienda la introducción de esta fórmula en la producción porcina comercial en Cuba por los índices biológicos que ofrece. Se recomienda además realizar una réplica del experimento con semen conservado durante 48 y 72 horas, aumentando el tamaño de la muestra y realizar estudios de factibilidad económica
