This research deals with the effect of using generating interaction between schemata and text (GIST) strategy on students’ ability in reading recount text. The objective of the study was to investigate whether Generating Interaction Between Schemata and Text Strategy significantly effect the students’ reading achievement. The population of this research was the first year students of MA Annajah Syekh Silau, in academic year 2016/2017.
