Dobar sustav za navodnjavanje mora biti funkcionalan, siguran i pristupačan cijenom. Proces optimizacije promjera cijevi služi za pronalazak optimalnog rješenja važnog za stvaranje cjevovoda koji će obavljati svoju funkciju i zadovoljiti zahtjeve potrošača uz minimalne troškove, odnosno izradu dobrog i pristupačnog projekta navodnjavanja. U ovom se radu opisuje formulacija optimizacijskog problema u programskom jeziku Phyton, nakon koje se koristeći računalni program Epanet simulira protok vode u cijevima i tako provodi optimizacija promjera cijevi na tri zadane testne mreže, čiji se rezultati optimizacije onda analiziraju i međusobno uspoređuju.A good irrigation system must be functional, safe and affordable.
