The development of an intrapreneurship scale:measuring intrapreneurial behaviour of employees

Organisations expect employees to behave as an intrapreneur, which is entrepreneurship within organizations. In order for organisations to increase the level of intrapreneurship, they need an integrated measuring scale. This scale could also be used to facilitate other research towards intrapreneurship. Most scales involve the behavioural dimensions innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking, but according to a literature review, the dimensions networking and opportunity recognition are also important, especially when considering the organisational constraints that the intrapreneurs have. We thus propose a scale for intrapreneurial behaviour that not only include the three dimensions innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking, but also internal and external networking and opportunity recognition. The data was analysed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The results show that a five-factor model containing these intrapreneurial dimensions had a good fit and was comparable with a one-factor model in which intrapreneurship was considered a second-order variable
