The purpose of this paper is to set up a geographical approach to the problem of road passes in crossing french mountains. Some 2 244 places may be identified with toponymy and selection criteria. Development density and amount activities in the pass area are revealing current and former functions. Different models of spatial dynamics are determined by the opening/closing dialectics in crossing's logic. Some road passes are on touristic routes with many touristic equipments and different practices.
