It is necessary to know the thermodynamic properties of the ternary (i j k) M solid solution to calculate the distribution of a trace element i between a (j k) M minerals solid solution and an aqueous vapor phase supposed to be ideal. According to the Kohler' s model, it is possible to estimate those properties from the results obtained with the bordering binary solutions (i j) M, (j k) M, and (k i) M. Moreover it is remarquable that more the excess molal Gibbs free energy of the solid solution (j k) M is strongly positive, more the trace element will be easily accepted in the solid phase.
