Quelques notes sur le statut du métalangage chez Jacques Lacan

After a definition of the notions of (fr.) métalangage, métalangue, métadiscours and a taxonomy of the different kinds of metalanguages (logical, linguistic and, among the latter, internal and external) the paper discusses the metalinguistic status of negation. One comes then to a description of Lacan's evolving attitude regarding metalanguage : from an explicit (though ambiguous) assignment of its place, to a final attempt to reassign it a place, and through the stage of what is called here the (de)negation of metalanguage, translation -borrowed from Laplanche and Pontalis' dictionary -from the ambiguity of the freudian term Verneinung. From a purely linguistic standpoint, the article suggests that what Lacan's criticism questions is metalanguage as a system. The specifically psychoanalytical aspects of the problem are considered at the end of the paper.Après une définition des notions de métalangage, métalangue, métadiscours , et une taxinomie des différents types de métalangages (logiques et linguistiques, et, parmi les derniers, internes et externes) , on s'interroge sur le statut métalinguistique de la négation. Puis on décrit l'attitude évolutive de Lacan à l'égard du métalangage : d'une mise en place explicite (quoique ambiguë) jusqu'à un ultime effort de remise en place en passant par ce qui est appelé dans l'article la (dé)négation du métalangage, traduction, empruntée à Laplanche et Pontalis, de l'ambiguïté du terme freudien Verneinung. Du point de vue proprement linguistique, l'article suggère que c'est la métalangue comme système qui est visée par la mise en cause lacanienne.
