Accessory minerals such as monazite, uraninite, xenotime, apatite and, at a lesser degree, zircon constitute the main mineralogical form of U-Th-REE in peraluminous granites. Although their nature and distribution are controlled by magma features, they can be significantly affected by subsolidus alteration. Thus, three examples of quartz leaching associated or not with albitization, from the southern part of the French Massif Central exhibit contrasted behavior of trace elements and accessory phases.
