The reststralhen attribution to fundamental oscillator frequencies (CO₃, SO₄, SiO₄ ...) from infrared reflection spectra has given information about the symetry, orientation and deformation in crystal lattice. For a range of monocrysta-lline mineral species for which chemical and structural formulae are well known.
