A formal theoretical treatment of X-ray diffraction in disordered crystal with a nearly perfect unit cell is given by introducing correlation functions of lattice sites and kinds of atoms. These correlation functions may be determined experimentally, but the interpretation becomes extremely difficult with an increasing number of correlation functions. It is shown that the electrostatic interaction energy of the disordered lattice may be calculated with the aid of the same correlation functions. Thus energy calculations of heteropolar disordered lattices may be used for the solution of the disorder problem.
