Saint Marcel Cave : an important site for the evolution of the mediterranean endokarst in the last 6 million years. The plateau of Saint-Remèze is a mesozoic carbonate platform located close to the Rhône valley. This carbonate platform is intensely karstified, as proven by Saint-Marcel Cave, which is 53 km long. It displays several horizontal levels. The upper and middle levels are dry most of the time. They are composed of large horizontal conduits extending over several kilometers.
