The core KET 8218, from the southern Adriatic basin, ranges from the top of the last interglacial to the beginning of the Holocene. The planktonic microfauna is characterised by the scarcity of the warm taxa and an exceptionnal abundance (up to 74 %) of Globigerina bulloides a temperate and rather euryhaline species. This fact may indicate a low surface water salinity during the periods of warming. The benthonic foraminifera distribution was studied by several methods : frequency diagrams, factor analysis, dendrograms. Different microfaunal associations are described.
