Paleomagnetism measurement and K-Ar dating have been made mainly on lavas from Dasht-e-Lut desert in Southeastern Iran. The results suggest an anticlockwise rotation of about 90° since Paleo-cene in the southern part of Lut depression. This rotation ended in Miocene. It is probably due to the collision of Indian and Asian plates. The clockwise rotation obtained from the Noegene formations in the Lut-Block might indicate a compression in the Arabian plate.
