The continental sediments in the Arques and Couiza syn-clines have yielded an interesting Charophyte flora including 11 species and sub-species, 3 of which are new : Maedleriella caudata n. sp., Peckichara varions ssp. meridionalis, n. ssp., Sphaerochara edda ssp. polita n. ssp. and Mollusks.
