La lagune de Moulay Bou Salham (Côte atlantique, Maroc). Un environnement côtier artificiel

The Moulay Bou Salham lacoon (Atlantic Coast of Morocco) : an artificial coastal environment. The Moulay Bou Salham lagoon is, actually an artificial environment (mainly controlled by man activity). 1) The ocean-lagoon connections aге periodically reopened by man's work 2) The building of the channel of Nador (1953) and the management of the river basin for agriculture have strongly transformed the ecosystem. The future evolution of the lagoon depends on the artificial opening of the inlet and the progradation of the terrigenous supplies. Without any managements the lagoon would be rapidly transformed into lacustrine environment. Series of cores permit the evolution of this system durinf the Holocene to be describes : at about 8500 B.P., the "lagoon" consisted in a continental environment : then at 6500 B.P., a marine lagoon is settled which is large by connected with the open sea and actually islate of atlantic ocean. Management in such a coastal area induces at the same time opposed effects by increasing and decreasing the speed of the lagoon evolution. Furthermore the rising of the sea level is a major factor which could be responsable for important modifications during the next century.La lagune de Mou lay Bou Salham (Côte atlantique marocaine) est un système entretenu actuellement de manière artificielle. Les communications océan-lagune sont assurées périodiquement par l'intervention de l'homme. L'ouverture du canal du Nador (1953) et les aménagements agricoles du bassin versant lagunaire ont profondément modifié l'écosystème. La présente évolution dépend de l'ouverture artificielle des passes et de la progradation des apports terrigènes dans la lagune. Sans ces interventions la lagune évoluerait naturellement vers un domaine lacustre. Des sondages effectués dans la lagune ont permis de montrer l'évolution d'un environnement continental vers 8500 ans B.P. à un système lagunaire ouvert aux influences marines (6500 ans B.P.), enfin depuis 2000 ans B.P. l'établissement des conditions lagunaires actuelles. La remontée du niveau marin est un des facteurs capables de modifier profondément ce système dans les cent prochaines années. Le modèle étudié est un bon exemple d'aménagements non maîtrisés sur une lagune. Il en ressort que les projets aquacoles sur les lagunes du Maroc doivent prendre en compte l'impact de tout aménagement en vue d'une gestion scientifique de ces écosystèmes.Carruesco Christian.
