Natural water chemical composition (pH, cond., Ca⁺⁺, Mg⁺⁺,K⁺, Sr⁺⁺, NH₄⁺, CI, SO₄⁻⁻,HCO₃⁻,NO₃⁻, PO₄⁻³, F⁻, B, Corg) is studied on 232 monolithologic watersheds corresponding to 25 major rock types. Each basin has been carefully selected to eliminate direct pollutant sources with the exception of moderate atmospheric pollution. The typical watershed is 100 % covered with forest, has an area of 8 km2, a discharge of 8 l.s'¹.km2, a mean altitude of 650 m and has been sampled 1.4 time. Oceanic inputs have an influence on most elements, with the exception of nutrients (Corg, N, P) and silica, over a 200 km coastal stretch, specially in the Landes and Britanny.
