The Relation Between the Accent of Neonovostokavski Dialects and Danicic's Accent

The author points out, right at the beginning, the high degree of conformity between all three groups of these dialects (north-east, south and west group) and Daničić's language in basic structural characteristics (all literary accentual alternations as categories are represented; there are all three types of the proclitic transfer of accent: old, analogous and new type; derivational principles are the same). Later on twenty-six characteristic cases of accents in all three groups of dialects and in Daničić's works are reviewed in tabulated form. After that each group is examined according to the degree of its agreement with Daničić's works. There is only one feature where these three groups completely differ between themselves. It is the accent of the indefinite form of adjective of the type nov /new/, (the northeast group: nov, -a, -o; the south group: nov, nova, -o; the west group: nov, nova, novo). In the end the author explains the following items: 1) the contraction of Daničić's unaccented lengths; 2) the quantity of suffixes in the present tense of the verb of the type trésém; 3) the lengthening of vowels before a consonant; 4) the accent of the genitive and accusative cases of personal pronouns of the 1st and 2nd person singular and of the reflexive pronoun sebe (oneself); 5) the accent of indefinite adjectival forms of the type nov /new/, and 6) the accent of indefinite adjectival forms of the type blaga
