Rockefeller Research Building construction, 1999. Photo by Robert Reichert The twelve-story laboratory research building is one of the most remarkable engineering feats on campus. It was designed by Abramovitz, Kingsland, and Schiff Architects and completed in 1992. Resting on the platform over the FDR Drive, its structure depends on steel arches which transfer the building’s weight to its corners, making it very strong and rigid. The façade of the building is clad with Alabama limestone and granite, materials commonly used throughout the campus.https://digitalcommons.rockefeller.edu/the-evolving-campus/1078/thumbnail.jp
