Strategi Koping Keluarga yang Menjadi Anggota Komunitas Peduli Skizofrenia Indonesia (KPSI) dalam Merawat Orang Dengan Skizofrenia (ODS)

The purpose of this study is to describe family coping strategies in caring persons with schizophrenia (PwS). This study uses a qualitative methods where data collection is done by semi-structured interviews. Data were obtained from 6 research informants with the criteria of having family relationships with persons with schizophrenia (PwS) who could be parents (father or mother), husband / wife and children. The results of this study found that the problem experienced by all informants in caring persons with schizophrenia was when PwS conditions relapsed and health problems in the form of tired physical and mind. In addition, other problems experienced include care, economy, family rejection, PwS social interaction and community stigma, etc. The coping strategy uses by the family in caring for persons with schizophrenia consists of problem focused coping and emotion focused coping. For problem focused coping, the coping strategies used by all informants when caring family members are planful problem solving and seeking social support. For emotion focused coping, the coping strategies used by all informants when caring family members is positive reappraisal. The use of 2 types of coping strategies in the form of problem focused coping and emotion focused coping at the same time was also uses by two of the six research informants
