KUALITAS HIDUP PASIEN ASMA BERDASARKAN STATUS MEROKOK (Studi Berdasarkan Instrumen AQLQ di Beberapa Puskesmas Wilayah Surabaya)

Asthma is a chronic disease caused by the inflammation occurring within the airway. Asthma can limit the activities of its patients. These limitations of activity can decrease the quality of life. Quality of life is a perception of society in all aspects of their lives. The habit of smoking is still often found in the society, furthermore the fact that smoking has a negative effect on health. Smoking is known to aggravate symptoms suffered by the people experiencing asthma. The aims of this study was to desscribe the quality of life in asthmatic patient determined by the smoking status in Primary Health Care Centers in Surabaya. This was a cross-sectional research using simple random sampling. The research was conducted in February to May 2018. The determination of quality of life was measured using Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ), higher score indicate better quality of life . There were 52 respondents from 10 Primary Health Care Centers in Surabaya. There were 5 respondents who were smokers, 33 respondents non smoker, and 14 respondent former smokers. The results of AQLQ measurements showed that smoker had the highest average score of 5.88±0.66, and non smoker had the lowest average score of 4,61±1,03. Meanwhile, the score of forner smoker were 4,78±0,92. Asthma patients who were smoking are known to have the highest average score on all domain
