Purpose: To evaluate the difference of aqueous and vitreous in colony forming units (CFU/ml) between intravitreal moxifloxacin and moxifloxacin-dexamethasone combination in an experimental rabbit model of Staphylococcus aureus endophthalmitis. Methods: The right eyes of 18 rabbits weighing 2 to 4 kg were used. 102 colony forming units of S. aureus in 0.1 ml saline solution were inoculated into the vitreous cavity. The eyes were randomly assigned into three groups equally.
