PERSEPSI IBU HAMIL TRIMESTER KEDUA TERHADAP PENGGUNAAN OBAT SELAMA KEHAMILAN (Studi di Puskesmas Wilayah Surabaya)

Pregnant women’s perception may influence her decision about the use of medication. Some medicines maybe harmful and gave undesirable effects to fetus. The use of medication during pregnancy have drawn some concerns to the health care practisioners. During the second trimester some medicine may affect the growth and the development of the fetus. This study aimed to see the perception of pregnant women in second trimester about medication use during pregnancy. This study was a crosssectional study using accidental sampling. The perception was measured using (Belief about Medicines Questionnaires) BMQ questionnaires. In this study, there were 197 (40,0%) pregnant women in the second trimester from 492 pregnant women recruited at Primary Health Care Centers Surabaya. The majority of women had less belief that medicine is dangerous, addictive and poisonous substances. They also had less belief that doctor have prescribed too much. The women also have concerns about the side effects of medicines and less confidence regarding the effectiveness of prescribed medicines. Most pregnant women in the second trimester in Surabaya had low belief relating to the four categories in BMQ. They were much more restrictive and unsure about use medication during pregnancy. The health care professionals should be aware of such attitudes when advising pregnant women to take medication during pregnancy
