KARAKTERISTIK INFEKSI TRICHOMONAS VAGINALIS DI DIVISI INFEKSI MENULAR SEKSUAL UNIT RAWAT JALAN KESEHATAN KULIT DAN KELAMIN RSUD DR SOETOMO SURABAYA PERIODE 2012 – 2016

Background: Trichomoniasis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis is a common sexually transmitted infection. Trichomoniasis has been associated with vaginitis, cervicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease on female and urethritis on male. Purpose : To evaluate the incidence and characteristics of trichomoniasis among patients of Sexually Transmitted Infection Division, Outpatient Unit of Dermato- Venerology Department, Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya in 2012-2016. Method: This is a descriptive retrospective study and was performed by evaluating medical record of trichomoniasis patients. Results: There were 23 new cases of trichomoniasis out of 5.174 patients. The number was decreased from 5 years before, 31 new cases. The most prevalent age group was 25-44 years old (47,8%), which mostly infected female (100%) and domiciled in Surabaya (82,6%). The most frequent marital status was married (87%) and occupation mostly was housewife (52,2%). Leukorrhea was the most frequent complaint (69,6%). The last coitus suspectus was mostly 5-14 days (21,7%) before visit and husband as the most common sexual partner (82,6%). Examination data revealed fluor (60,9%) and T. vaginalis as the most common finding. It is found that 39,1% patients were diagnosed with single infection of T. vaginalis and mostly was treated by metronidazole (69,9%). There were 34,8% patients who did not come back for the follow up. The most prevalent additional diagnosis and treatment were NSGI (30,4%) and doxycycline (30,4%) .
