PROFIL NYERI PASCABEDAH ELEKTIF PADA PASIEN ANAK DENGAN STATUS FISIK ASA 1 DAN 2 DI INSTALASI BEDAH SENTRAL RSUD DR. SOETOMO SURABAYA

Background: Despite improvements of pediatric postoperative pain management, children continue to experience significant postoperative pain because of the difficulty in expressing pain (Lee and Jo, 2014). A good pain assessment will lead to an appropriate pain management, and thereby ameliorate the children’s comfort and clinical outcome (APA, 2012). We undertook this study to determine postoperative pain after elective surgery in pediatrics with ASA status of 1 & 2 in Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, Surabaya. Method: In this descriptive, cross-sectional study, we assessed pain in 12 hours after surgery on children aged one month to 12 years old in one month period using FLACC scale and Wong Baker Faces Scale. The pain predictive factors observed were age groups, surgery types, anesthesia techniques, and analgesic use. The patient’s demography was also recorded. Results: Of 50 patients included in this study, postoperative pain was dominant at “no pain” (34%) and “moderate pain” (32%) level. Postoperative pain score increased with age and were high in ear-nose-throat and urogenital surgery. General anesthesia were used in 44 (88%) patient. Fourty-seven (94%) patients received single analgesic and 76% of which were Metamizole.
