An attempt to synthesis ethyl p-hydroxycinnamate from ethyl pmethoxycinnamate as natural starting material has been done by reacting it with pyridine hydrochloride under microwave irradiation. Ethyl p-methoxycinnamate was isolated from Kaempferia galanga L. The ether extract of result compound analyzed using TLC, resulted two new TLC spot. Then, the multi-component was separated by column chromatography and single-spot result was analyzed by spectroscopy of UV-Vis, FT/IR, and NMR. NMR spectra shown a lot of noise means that the compound was a multi-compound. GC-MS analysis was done to give a better resolution in separation. Result shown five peaks other than starting compound’s. MS spectra was analyzed and resulting demethylation...
