Candida albicans have been shown to be resistant to commercial antifungal. Exploration of new antifungal were done to conquer that problem. Biofilm protected Candida albicans from antifungal penetration. Biofilm are different from planktonic cell. β-1,3-glucan content was increased in Candida albicans cell walls and extracellular matrix from a biofilm compared to planktonic cell. β-1,3-glucan was responsible in minimizing antifungal penetration on Candida albicans biofilm. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) have antifungal properties to Candida albicans cell culture, but never been tested to Candida albicans biofilm.
