Gastroenterology and general practice doctors view towards the Helicobacter pylori Infection, diagnostics and treatment tactics.

Around a half of the people around the world are infected with H. pylori. Diseases related to this infection are treated by general practice (GP) doctors, doctors of internal medicine, pediatricians and gastroenterologists . The aim of this study is to evaluate gastroenterology and GP doctors' view on the H. pylori role in the development of most common gastric and duodenal diseases, their diagnostics and treatment tactics. The objectives of the study: to evaluate doctors' view towards H. pylori infection role in the developement of most common gastric and duodenal diseases, their diagnostics and treatments tactics and to compare the results with a similar study which was conducted in 1998. Methods and participants: 94 doctors - 42 gastroenterologists and 52 GP doctors - from different medical institutions around Lithuania completed a questionnaire. Chi-square test was applied to identify the statistical strenght of the relationship, while data was considered statistically significant, when p < 0,05.
