Studies of maximum power extraction methods for photovoltaic system

The search for renewable energy sources has increased in recent years and photovoltaic energy has stood out. Its use is a way to complement the Brazilian energy matrix to make it less dependent on the energy produced by hydroelectric plants, an alternative to remote places where there is no energy and a possible solution to supply the large amount of energy that will be demanded in the next years, with a clean energy, without producing greenhouse gases. In this way, in order to become even more attractive in the market, it is necessary to build efficient systems to take advantage of the maximum energy capacity that the system can provide. One way to improve efficiency in photovoltaic systems is through the use of some Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method. The objective of this work is to study and compare two classical techniques of MPPT: Perturbation and Observation (P&O) and Incremental Conductance (Cond. Inc.) because they are two techniques already consecrated in the literature. Sua utilização é uma forma de complementar a matriz energética brasileira para torná-la menos dependente da energia produzida por hidrelétricas, uma alternativa para lugares remotos onde não há energia e uma possível solução para suprir a grande quantidade de energia que será demandada nos próximos anos, de forma limpa, sem produzir gases do efeito estufa. Nesse sentido, para que se tornem ainda mais atraentes no mercado, é necessário construir sistemas eficientes para que seja aproveitada a máxima capacidade de energia que o sistema pode fornecer. Uma forma de melhorar a eficiência em sistemas fotovoltaicos é através da utilização de algum método de rastreamento de extração de máxima potência (do inglês, Maximum Power Point Tracking – MPPT).
