Animal models for psychiatric disorders involve studies for schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, among others, that affect a considerable portion of the world's population. Although they affect public health on a large scale, the studies that address these diseases are slow and scarce, since for decades neurobiology was in great conflict with the study of neural functions between ethical and practical difficulties. Thus, animal models cross this barrier and produce noninvasive results when studying neural structures and functions.
