Pathological evaluation in soil-foundation consolidation: an analysis of occurrences in the Uberlândia city

Pathological manifestations are not recent in of civil construction, indeed they have always been present since the appearance of the first buildings. However, the term Construction Pathology is relatively new and includes studies on the anomalies present in civil engineering works and the search for solutions to them. In this aspect, the city of Uberlândia has an aggravating factor that is the occurrence of collapsible soils. Pathological problems of this nature assume high costs to solve and recover the affected buildings, and can generate loss of credibility for the responsible professionals. For this reason, it became relevant to survey pathological manifestations in a set of almost two dozen buildings of the Federal University of Uberlândia, since they have a high flow of people and are in a region subject to the behavior of this type of soil. After partial inspections, it was prioritized the study of two blocks that presented great incidence of fissures. Then, mapping, analyzes of typical configurations and dispersion graphs were performed, indicating the possible occurrence of settlements linked to the special behavior of the substrate. The work was conclusive that the design of more judicious projects, providing details and specifications appropriate to the conditions in which the work is inserted, are indispensable factors to prevent future complications.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)As manifestações patológicas não são recentes na área de construção civil, pelo contrário sempre estiveram presentes desde o surgimento das primeiras edificações. Entretanto, o termo Patologia das Construções é relativamente novo, e compreende os estudos sobre as anomalias presentes em obras de engenharia civil e a busca de soluções para tais. Sobre esse aspecto a cidade de Uberlândia tem um agravante que é a ocorrência de solos colapsíveis. Problemas patológicos dessa natureza assumem custos altos para solucionar e recuperar as construções afetadas, e podem gerar perda de credibilidade para os profissionais responsáveis. Por essa razão, tornou-se relevante o levantamento de manifestações patológicas num conjunto de quase duas dezenas de edificações da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, visto que, os mesmos possuem grande fluxo de pessoas e estão em uma região sujeita ao comportamento desta tipologia de solo. Depois de inspeções parciais foi priorizado o estudo de 2 blocos que apresentavam grande incidência de fissuras. Feito isso, realizou-se análises das configurações típicas, ensaios, mapeamentos e gráfico de dispersão que indicam possível ocorrência de recalques ligados ao comportamento especial do substrato. O trabalho foi conclusivo de que a concepção de projetos mais criteriosos fornecendo detalhamentos e especificações apropriadas as condições que a obra está inserida são fatores indispensáveis para impedir complicações futuras
