BACKGROUND: Korea has the highest suicide rate in the OECD and is one of the few OECD countries whose suicide rates have not decreased in recent years. To address these issues, we investigated the effects of weight control failure on suicidal ideation in the overweight and obese populations. METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional study using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2008-2012) consisting of 6621 individuals 40 years of age or older.
