(A) study on water pollution on down stream of the Han River

의학과/박사[한글] [영문] The down stream of the Han River, particularly from the 1st Han River bridge to Hengju, is seriously polluted by the discharging of large amount of heavily polluted raw sewage, raw night soil, industrial wastes from Seoul City area through many estuaries and the tidal effect of the river. Therefore, the source of water supply, mainly from these down stream of the Han River, to Inchon city, and Yong Deung Po industrial district should be warned to have been fatally polluted, and when the increasing population and industrial factories in Seoul area would accelerate the water pollution of this area. The analysis of river water and estimation of the effects of pollutants discharged from An Yang Stream on the water quality of the Han River had been made through the survey, on the 11.2 km of this waterway, during April, 1972 to July, 1973. Five increase of the the BOD in Han River water was expected based on the discharge of BOD and flow rate of industrial waste water from An Yang estuary and 45% increase of BOD by 380,000 MTD (average 617 ppm BOD) of Chung Kai estuary. Seoul city Has estimated the discharges of 105,917 MTD of industrial wastewater from 194 factories to Han River other than An Yang estuary, which also effects the Han River pollution. Several industrial factories and night ceil storage pond located in the area of 5km down from Ka Yang pumping station of Inchon city water supply are regarded to degrade the water quality on the high tide of Han River, while the pumping station itself is exposed to the geographical danger of highly polluted water by the main flow of waste from An Yang estuary. Therefore, a special measure for the abatement of the discharging pollutants and to maintain an adequate water quality in down stream of Han River which is only a source of water supply for Inchon city and the respective area.restrictio
