Purpose: To prospectively evaluate the 3 years follow up clinical and radiographic results of uncemented total hip arthroplasty using the Summit(R) system with ceramic-on-ceramic articulation. Materials and Methods: From January 2001 to December 2001, thirty-one primary total hip arthroplasties were performed on thirty-one patients using the Summit(R) system. The mean follow-up period was 3.3 years. The preoperative diagnoses were degenerative osteoarthritis in 18 cases, avascular necrosis in 10 cases, and a femoral neck fracture in 3 cases.
