Patients with coronary artery calcification have an increased risk of coronary vascular events and mortality. Coronary artery calcification can be quantified using the coronary calcium score (CCS) from multi-detected row computed tomography (MDCT), and the score is proportionally related to the severity of atherosclerotic disease.
