OBJECTIVE: Although a previous study reported that recombinant human growth/differentiation factor-5 (rhGDF-5) coated onto a β-tricalciumphosphate (β-TCP) significantly enhanced periodontal regeneration, the long-term stability/maturation of the regenerated tissues has not been demonstrated.
