In light of the differences in hip fracture rates between men and women of different ages, age-related changes in bone structure that lead to bone fragility might differ depending on both age and gender. To investigate age-related bone loss and geometric deterioration of the femur, hip scans of 1,504 men and 2,076 women aged 19-92 years acquired during the Fourth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES IV) using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) were analyzed with a structural analysis program. Cross-sectional area and cortical thickness with bone mineral density in men started to decline from the third decade and continued to decline at a constant rate. However, in women, these parameters remained nearly const...
Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry hip scans of 1,760 population-based Caucasians, 599 girls and 642 b...
Bone mineral density (BMD) and soft tissue composition were measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiom...
The geometry as well as bone mineral density (BMD) of the proximal femur contributes to fracture ris...
Although gender differences in fall rates may partly explain the higher prevalence of fractures in e...
The risk of hip fracture rises rapidly with age, and is particularly high in women. This increase in...
Bone mineral content (BMC), bone areas (BA) and bone mineral density ( BMD) of the proximal femur i...
(BMD) of the proximal femur, lumbar spine, or both by dual photon absorptiometry in 205 normal volun...
Although age-related variations in areal bone mineral density (aBMD) and the prevalence of osteoporo...
Decline in bone mass with aging leads to osteoporosis and fragility fractures. It has profound effec...

It is important to investigate the irregularities in aging-associated changes in bone, between men a...
SUMMARY: We studied femoral geometry in relation to age and ethnicity in a cross-sectional study. Ag...
Hip geometry and bone mineral density (BMD) have been shown previously to relate, independently of e...
SUMMARY: The aim of this study was to examine the gender-specific association between sarcopenia and...
We have investigated the age-related change in factor of risk (Phi) for the proximal femoral load du...
